SUBJECT: INVITATION TO THE CCMA INDABA 2022
Following a two-year Covid-19 imposed break, the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its 2022 CCMA Indaba from 01 – 02 December 2022 at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre, in Boksburg, Gauteng Province, under the theme, IMVUSELELO – Reflections on the past 25 years of Social Justice: Re-building together post the Covid-19 Pandemic.
CCMA Commissioners and key stakeholders in the labour market are expected to attend the two-day gathering, which has since its inception in 1997 served as a platform for reflective discourses and solution-driven discussions aimed at reshaping insights centered around the labour market and its myriad issues as directed by the submissions received from seasoned labour law practitioners.
The Judge President of the Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court, Judge President Basheer Waglay will deliver a keynote address at the CCMA Indaba 2022 on 1 December 2022, under the topic “Matters arising from the Labour Court and Labour Appeals Court”. Other topics that will be under discussion are as follows; “The plight of Domestic Workers: A move towards decent work, legal protection and latest developments” and “Employment Law Review including a focus on specific cases”.
In the evening of Thursday, 1 December 2022, the 2021 and 2022 CCMA Service Excellence Awards will be conferred during its Gala Dinner and employees and Commissioners who have been in the employ of the CCMA for 25 years or more will be acknowledged.
The topical subject of Collective Bargaining will feature prominently on day two (2 December 2022) of the CCMA Indaba 2022, wherein the current standing of discourses in the Collective Bargaining space as well as an exploration on whether or not there is a need to re – revisit the CCMA’s Collective Bargaining Strategy, will be unpacked.
