SUBJECT: CCMA LAUNCHING THE 2023/24 FINANCIAL YEAR

Dear CCMA Users and Stakeholders,

As the 2022/23 financial year draws to a close ushering the dawn of a new era; the 2023/24 financial year; being the CCMA’s second last year of its implementation of the Imvuselelo-the Revival Strategy, which came into effect in 2020/21.  The CCMA has, within the 2022/23 financial year, been heralded with numerous accolades and has been part of a myriad of significant moments that have re-shaped the South African labour market. Paramount to which would be the CCMA’s successful facilitations within the Mining, Transport and Energy sectors, resulting in 51% of jobs being saved (15 845), from 31 238 employees likely to be retrenched.

It was also in the 2022/23 financial year that the CCMA managed to achieve a historic clean audit and a 100% performance appraisal against its 2021/22 Annual Performance Plan. “I attribute these significant victories to the selfless contributions of the CCMA’s Commissioners, the oversight of the CCMA’s Governing Body, the CCMA’s Senior Management structure, the CCMA’ Support Staff and the unwavering support received from Users and Stakeholders, at large”, the CCMA Acting Director– Bongumusa Khumalo, said.

In September 2022, the CCMA managed to convene its Annual Labour Conference after a two-year hiatus wherein it celebrated its 25th year Anniversary, which coincided with the Labour Relations Act No. 66 of 1995 (as amended)’s 25th Anniversary.

As the CCMA launches its new 2023/24 financial year it remains committed to its mandate, which is to “advance economic development, social justice, labour peace and the democratisation of the workplace” as guided by its five (5) year organisational strategy, Imvuselelo –The Revival Strategy. “Through our Dispute Prevention and Workplace Outreach programmes, the CCMA also remains actively committed to making its services accessible to all Users; indiscriminately across all provinces in the country in a bid to champion a conducive and stabilised labour market.

“This year we will continue to proffer social justice in our all our processes as guided by our 2023/24 Annual Performance Plan (APP) through 31 output performance indicators contributing to the NDP 2030 and the 2019 – 2024 Medium-Term Strategic Framework (MTSF). Users are reminded that CCMA statutory services are free and that they need to stay alert and not fall to prey to unscrupulous touters who masquerade as the CCMA” Khumalo concluded.
