CCMA Director, Cameron Sello Morajane, congratulated the parties on the signing of the settlement, saying that it was a victory for mediation and explaining that,“The CCMA commends the parties on their commitment to finding a resolution under the guidance of experienced CCMA Commissioners”. He added that “this is futher evidence of the CCMA’s steadfast commitment to finding mediated settlements in the intrest of the labour market and the country.”

The CCMA is pleased to announce that an agreement has been signed between SAMWU and Pikitup today (15/04/2016). This follows the settlement of the industrial action on the 8 April 2016 under the auspices of the CCMA and the process continuing on the 11th, 12th and 13th with three days of intensive negotiations facilitated by the CCMA dealing with substantive issues.

The CCMA has successfully facilitated the settlement of the Pikitup Industrial Action.  Discussion to resolve the industrial action facilitated by the CCMA with the City of Johannesburg Pikitup and SAMWU started on Tuesday the 5 April 2016 and reconvened on Friday, 8 April 2016 culminating in a settlement agreement.

Discussion to resolve the current industrial action facilitated by the CCMA with the City of Johannesburg Pikitup and South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) started on Tuesday the 5 April 2016. These talks progressed till early on Wednesday morning when parties agreed to reconvene.
