Dear Stakeholders and Users,
South Africa, and the rest of the world, is going through an unprecedented period as a result of the COVID – 19 (Coronavirus) with the situation evolving very quickly.
As CCMA Director, you have my personal commitment that the monitoring of COVID - 19 is on our radar and has our full attention. As I’ve said before, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our employees, Commissioners, stakeholders and users. As such, the CCMA is taking precautions to minimize the risk of the exacerbated spread of the virus. As such, the CCMA is doing some things a little differently, as outlined in the directive that was issued across all CCMA platforms on 17 March 2020. Whilst the CCMA has always maintained the highest standards of cleanliness, efforts have been intensified to also inculcate the COVID-19 guidelines aimed at ensuring the health and well – being of our employees, Commissioners, stakeholders and users. These include the installation of hand – sanitizers in key points across all our premises and the frequent cleaning using disinfectants of “high – touch” areas.
A Steering Committee has also been established to implement the CCMA’s COVID-19 Coronavirus Response Plan and to communicate the situation as it unfolds. To the best of our knowledge, the CCMA does not have any confirmed positive COVID – 19 infections with respect to its employees. Employees have been encouraged to monitor their health, self-isolate themselves when not feeling well until cleared by a medical report and to get tested should they display any signs of being infected. I am also currently considering allowing employees to work remotely subject to the discretion and approval of respective Departmental/Regional Heads. Those employees who will remain reportable to the CCMA offices are to practice social distancing and wear protective gear at all times when interacting with fellow colleagues is mandatory. Meetings (internally and those with external stakeholders) as far as possible, will be conducted via digital platforms.
The CCMA remains committed to social justice delivery to all its users and stakeholders!
Excellent service delivery will still be delivered via telephonic means, email, social media platforms and our mobile application (CCMAConnect). The CCMA will make every effort to maintain normal service levels, but we do request your patience and understanding in the event that service levels are not maintained from time to time due to the COVID – 19. At all times, the CCMA does its best to ensure that the interests of our employees, users and stakeholders are kept top of mind throughout.
The CCMA will continuously be in touch will employees, Commissioners, stakeholders and users, in order to share any advice we may have, as well as to continuously stay up to date regarding the developments around COVID – 19. The CCMA remains hopeful that this situation will improve soon. Please continue to follow guidelines issued by the National Department of Health and all other relevant health authorities to remain safe and healthy.
These are unprecedented times. Now, more than ever we need to stay calm, be resourceful, and do what we do best: focus on supporting each other, meeting the changing needs of the organisation and our users.
